I am Matilde, a junior in high school (I won't tell you the address or it'll take about 2 days to read) and now i do lessons digitally. For those, who like me, are students: we've been locked in our house for 2 months now. Everyday i have lessons through the computer, remote homework, remote meetings, in short, everything remote. On one hand, this quarantine has prompted us to modernise, with digital homework less paper is wasted! On the other, everyone misses their friends. My friends and I get passed this too, we got organized and we watched films together, it’s not like being in cinemas but it’s close. We stayed close even though we were physically far away. Far away yes, alone never. We all know what it means to be in quarantine, but today I'll tell you about the importance of the little things.

Many things can't be done in quarantine, we have all abandoned projects and programs: shows, essays, going to the cinema... even the smallest things have begun, little by little, to be missed by us. Personally I miss not seeing my classmates every day, greeting them, hugging and laughing together, now we laugh from a distance, we send each other an emoji. Anyone can tell you all the things they lost in quarantine and we won't get anything useful out of it.

All this time with ourselves is, it has been an opportunity, the important thing is to live it as such. More time with the family, time to read and catch up on TV series. But personally it was an opportunity to start working out seriously and take care of my body.

Every little thing becomes precious, the space outside the house is a dream. Apparently it can be quiet during the storm. Forced to stay at home, you realize how important every little thing was: going to school, training, seeing friends, hugs and even flowers on the lawns, now hidden from our sight.

Forced to live with ourselves, we have time to get lost in ours thoughts, to dedicate ourselves to them, but it isn’t always beautiful or easy. We are almost forced to stay in our company. We don’t always like what we see inside us, it’s difficult, it takes bravery, looking inside ourselves, understand what we feel, what we want to do. We have the time to reflect, to give shape to our ideas but also to cry over ourselves. Analyze all those feelings we've put aside over the months and years. We mustn’t run away from our feelings, never and especially now that we have the time to lock ourselves in the bathroom and cry without restraint or lock ourselves in our room and analyze ourselves.

It is very important to stay positive “It's gonna be alright”. You can get lost in panic, in fear, but what's the point? What's the point? I stay positive and keep screaming: It's gonna be alright. It's not a vague illusion, it will be reality and I believe it. To deny that something serious is happening would be insane, but that's not what I want to do, that's not what we should do. It takes the right balance of knowledge, fear and hope. A lot of emotional imbalance has been created inside each of us. Maybe I can also be very positive thanks to meditation “Eu medito” and neural stimulation, and so i say a big THANK YOU to my friends/colleagues of Manos Sin Fronteras. Thanks to meditation an emotional balance can be achieved, calm also the "corriere della sera" (afternoon messenger, name of an Italian newspaper) told it to the Italians.

Nothing will ever be the same again or maybe yes, we’ll change our point of view. I think that, sometimes, we need a jolt, to realize what is around us, to change our point of view. It will change our idea about small things and, maybe, we will understand once and for all that they are not small and everything is important.

There are so many things you can do at home and we've discovered them. That thing you've been saying "I'll do it later" for a long time, we've finally had time to do it, the urge... it's another matter.

Now that we can go out of the ordinary again, at least in Italy, we appreciate the little things. We can take a walk, we can observe flowers, grass, trees and nature in general. For those who do not have a garden under the house there is the possibility to look at the flowers again. Now the little things matter. Time with friends, the possibility to do what we want, when and where we want. Let's try the taste of freedom again.

Fear stops us, we mustn't let it. We have to came back to live life, do what we like, maybe with a little more awareness and knowing how important everything is.

There is a positive side to everything we have experienced, there is always a positive side, even if it’s difficult to found. A medal always has 2 faces you will always find the positive and the negative side of things. I was saying, what has this quarantine taught us? To enjoy the little things, the importance of small things.

I conclude by citing Marco Mengoni, “I believe in human beings, I believe in human beings, i believe in human beings who have bravery, bravery to be human”

(original quote: Credo negli esseri umani, credo negli esseri umani, credo negli esseri umani che hanno coraggio, coraggio di essere umani).

So let's embrace and It's gonna be alright!
