Who You Are and What Defines You

Inspired by LJ's message of Freedom is sharing the Light.

When we are young there are so many ideas we have of what we "want to be". There is always an adult who will ask us "what do you want to be when you grow up?" and the expected answer is firefighter, veterinarian, doctor and somehow it is the beginning of identifying with matter.

Who am I?

In my life I have held on to many aspects of myself as part of my "identity".

When I was at the crossroads of: "ok, what do I want from my life", do I follow the path of drugs or the path of Light, one of the strong and shocking thoughts was: “so, who am I, if I am not hippie Dani, open-minded Dani, cool Dani. ( I was not open-minded, I was just lying to myself). And it was thanks to La Jardinera that I got away from the world of drugs.

Then came the prestige at work, reaching all the goals of, "by the time I'm 30 I must have x", and you feel like you are on top of the world because you did it, you've got the title, but these are such fragile concepts and when you tie yourself to them you become fragile.

What happens when from one day to the next you don't have a job? What? Does that mean from one day to the next you're worthless? And much worse if you value others by the title they have, then poor you, that misses out on the immense treasure of those around you.

There are so many identities that we cling to, focus on and give value to, things that are fleeting and leave us feeling as empty after they are gone as before we had them.

La Jardinera y La Enseñanza shows us what truly matters, the greatest thing that will remain forever and that no one can take away from you and that is what we do, our actions today, what we build, the legacy we leave, the people with whom we share and whom we help.

The time we spend on earth is truly short, it is too short to limit ourselves with concepts that do not exist. Our value is defined by what we carry inside, our value is defined by what we share.
